Open States Legislator Bulk Data
Legislator data in Open States is powered by the openstates/people repo which contains structured YAML files on all legislators in our system, past and present.
For convenience, we also make current legislators available as CSV files as described below.
Downloads
CSV files are published nightly, and available at https://data.openstates.org/people/current/[ABBR].csv, where [ABBR] is a state's postal code.
Fields
Fields with an asterisk are required, all others are optional.
These CSV files include a subset of the total data we collect deemed suitable for inclusion in a CSV file, see YAML Schema for all fields.

- Full name.
- current_party*
- Current party affiliation.
- current_district*
- Currently represented district name or number.

- A short bio published by the state.

- In YYYY-MM-DD format.

- URL to official image.

- Primary email address of legislator.

- Semicolon separated list of official links for this person.

- Semicolon separated list of source URLs for this person.

- Street address of capitol office.

- Phone number for capitol office.
